About the book
Ruth Cooperman arrives in beautiful beachside Provincetown for her retirement, renting the perfect waterfront cottage while she searches for her forever home. After years of hard work and making peace with life’s compromises, Ruth is looking forward to a carefree summer of solitude. But when she finds a baby girl abandoned on her doorstep, Ruth turns to her new neighbors for help and is drawn into the drama of the close-knit community.
The appearance of the mystery baby has an emotional ripple effect through the women in town, including Amelia Cabral, the matriarch who lost her own child decades earlier; Elise Douglas, owner of the tea shop who gave up her dream of becoming a mother; and teenage local Jaci Barros who feels trapped by her parents’ expectations. Ruth, caring for a baby for the first time in thirty years, even reaches out to her own estranged daughter, Olivia, summoning her to Provincetown in hopes of a reconciliation.
As summer unfolds and friends and family care for the infant, alliances are made, relationships are tested, and secrets are uncovered. But the unconditional love for a child in need just might bring Ruth and the women of Provincetown exactly what they have been longing for themselves.
With heartfelt storytelling, Summer Longing is Jamie Brenner’s eagerly anticipated return to Provincetown; another unforgettable tale about motherhood, friendship, and finding your way home.

The thing you need to know about Summer Longing by Jamie Brenner is that it was my very first read by this author. She has 6 previously published books, all with phenomenal reviews. What rock have I been hiding under? ( I have no clue either but if we find it, be darn sure I am breaking it with my Animal Crossings shovel). You see, this is exactly the reason I love to do book tours, I am introduced to so many authors that I’ve not read before, and as embarrassing as it is to admit, I am always overwhelmed with the ending results.
Beautiful beachside Provincetown, where people go to escape. Thats exactly what is happening this summer when Ruth Cooperman retires and stays in a rented cottage while she searches for her permanent home. But when a baby is left on her doorstep, Ruth immediately leans on her new neighbors for help, and is rapidly drawn to their charm as well as all the drama they bring along with them. As the summer slowly unfolds each of these ladies learn a little more about life and love while they all pitch in to care for a small abandoned child.
There is so many wonderful character lines going on in this book and Jamie Brenner weaves them all together so masterfully to create a unputdownable summer read. This story brings together a delightful cast of women who all have secrets, wants and needs that are all bound together by the love and care of a small child. There is mystery, romance, and plenty of drama to keep the pages turning, and you will find yourself both laughing and crying as you tear though the pages. This is an extremely uplifting and heartwarming read that will make you want to move to Provincetown and look for these ladies, and become friends with them yourself, trust me, you’ll be sad when it’s over. I will be buying all of Jamie’s previous novels now, just so you know. This was brilliant. 5 stars, and a new auto-buy author for me!
I just would like to thank Jamie Brenner, Suzanne Leopold of Suzy Approved Book Tours and Little, Brown and Company for the copy of this book for my unbiased and honest opinion for review.
